What we do
Eleven things, done by the same small firm.
The full range Jericos covers from Marlow across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and South Oxfordshire — every job looked at properly, priced with a free, no-obligation quotation, and gas work carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Boilers & central heating
The core of it: the appliance, the pipework it feeds and the controls that decide how much of your money it spends.
Gas boilers
A new boiler is the biggest single bit of kit in most houses, so we start with the house rather than a price list: how many bathrooms are asked to work at once, what the mains pressure is really doing, where the flue can safely terminate, whether the gas run and pipework will carry the new appliance. Then you get a free, no-obligation price for that job. Installation, servicing and repairs are carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, the system is cleaned and tested, the controls are set up and explained, and the old boiler and packaging leave with us.

Electric boilers
Not every property has, or wants, a gas supply. Electric boilers suit flats without a flue route, annexes and garden rooms, and off-grid houses out in the villages — they're compact, quiet and have no combustion to go wrong. The catch is running cost and sizing, so we're upfront about both: we'll size the unit against the heat loss and the hot water demand rather than the space on the wall, sort the electrical requirements with a qualified electrician, and explain honestly how it will compare with what you have now.

Central heating
Sometimes the boiler is fine and everything around it isn't — cold radiators at one end of the house, a landing that never warms up, or an all-on-or-all-off system with one thermostat in the hall. We install and alter central heating: new pipework runs, zone valves, radiators sized for the room rather than the gap on the wall, thermostatic valves throughout, then the flush, inhibitor dose and balancing that decide whether the far end of the house gets its share. Gas work is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Heating controls
Controls are the cheapest real upgrade in most houses and the one most often left half-configured. We install and commission smart and zoned control systems, including Honeywell Evohome, Nest and Vaillant vSmart: room-by-room zoning where the house suits it, weather compensation where the boiler supports it, and schedules built around how you actually live rather than the factory default. We'll also tell you when your existing controls are fine and the money is better spent elsewhere.

Renewable heating
Lower-carbon heating done honestly — designed around your house and its heat loss, not around a brochure.
Air source heat pumps
An air source heat pump takes low-grade heat out of the outside air and lifts it to a temperature that will heat a home, which cuts energy use and carbon emissions compared with burning gas. It also asks more of the house than a boiler does: the heat loss has to be calculated, the radiators or underfloor circuits have to be sized for a lower flow temperature, and the cylinder coil has to be big enough to recover quickly. We'll survey properly, tell you what your house would need, and say so plainly if a heat pump isn't the right answer yet.

Solar thermal
Solar thermal is the quiet, unglamorous renewable: collectors on the roof pre-heat the water going into your cylinder, so from spring to autumn the boiler or immersion barely has to finish the job. We install systems where the roof and the cylinder suit them, and we also look after existing ones — pump stations, glycol condition, pressure and controls — including systems whose original installer has long since disappeared. It pairs particularly well with an unvented cylinder that already has a spare coil.

Plumbing & hot water
Everyday plumbing and the hot water side, including the unvented cylinder kit that hardly ever gets checked.
Plumbing
Everyday domestic plumbing is the backbone of the firm: new bathroom suites and showers, kitchen supplies and wastes, taps and mixers, ballvalves and stopcocks that haven't turned in twenty years, isolating valves so the next repair isn't a drained system, and leaks found before they quietly ruin a ceiling. On bathrooms we make the plumbing decisions that matter before the tiler arrives — whether your pressure will run the shower you've chosen, and whether the hot water will keep up with a second bathroom.

Hot water cylinders
Hot water is where most complaints about a heating system actually start. We supply and install unvented cylinders — the Megaflo-type stainless units that give you mains-pressure showers — and loft-fed and vented systems where that's the sensible answer for the house. Just as important is the annual check: the expansion vessel charge, the pressure reducing valve, the tundish, and the temperature and pressure relief. The water round here is hard, so scale and vessel condition are worth real attention rather than a glance.

Gas, landlords & projects
Gas beyond the boiler, work for landlords and letting agents, and first and second fix on builds and renovations.
Gas work
General gas work beyond the boiler: running or altering gas pipework for a new hob or fire, connecting and commissioning appliances, moving a supply for a kitchen refit, capping off safely, and checking the soundness of an existing installation. All of it is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, because legally it can only be done by one — and if we find something unsafe, you'll get told plainly what it is and what has to happen, not a sales pitch.

Landlord services
We want to help landlords and letting agents, and we want to make their life easier — that's the whole pitch, and it's the same sentence we've always used. In practice: annual gas safety work carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, boiler servicing and repairs, cylinder and control work, and the plumbing call-outs that come with tenanted property. One point of contact, appointments arranged directly with tenants, and a straight answer about whether an ageing appliance is worth another year.

New build & renovation
We do first and second fix plumbing and heating for new builds, extensions and whole-house renovations — including work alongside local builders. First fix is where the money is either saved or quietly wasted: pipe routes planned before the floors go down, manifolds and underfloor loops set out properly, cylinder and plant space agreed early, and provision left for the controls, the heat pump or the second bathroom that's coming later. Then second fix on programme, so we're not the trade holding everyone up.

Kit we work with every week
The makes on Buckinghamshire walls.
We're manufacturer-trained on, and work constantly with, the boilers and controls you'll actually find round here. We don't claim a partner tier or a badge we can't show you — what we will do is tell you which of these we'd put in your house, and why.
